A Kentucky man was sentenced on Aug. 10 to eighteen years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to opening fire at Yorktown Mall in November 2022, according to DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin.
Ronald Grundy, 26, of Louisville, entered a plea of guilty to one count of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, a Class X Felony.
Authorities said that on November 11, 2022, Lombard Police responded at approximately 3:05 p.m. to reports of shots fired near the JC Penny parking lot at Yorktown Mall.
Victims told officers they were confronted by Grundy and Jakobi Kinsey; one defendant reportedly asked, “you good?”
The investigation led police to arrest Kinsey in Chicago on November 12 and Grundy in Cook County on November 14.
