Drivers in Calp were confronted with an extraordinary scene on Monday August 10 evening after more than 100 crates carrying empty glass bottles tumbled from a lorry, leaving boxes and shattered glass strewn across a busy roundabout.
The incident happened at around 6.30pm on August 10 at the Avenida Diputación roundabout, where Avenida Ejércitos Españoles, Calle Málaga and Avenida Casanova meet.
Red crates were scattered across the road while glass bottles smashed on impact, leaving debris covering a sizeable section of the junction and creating an immediate hazard for passing vehicles.
Despite the dramatic nature of the spill and the amount of glass left across the road, no injuries were reported.
Civil Protection personnel joined the clean-up operation, helping remove crates, bottles and other debris from the road.
