The UK automotive sector is set to receive almost £130 million in government and industry investment to accelerate the development of next-generation zero-emission vehicles and support more than 1,800 high-value manufacturing jobs across the country.
The investment, announced by the UK Government on 10 August 2026, will support projects ranging from self-driving vehicles and advanced automotive technologies to more affordable electric vehicles (EVs).
Almost £65 million of government funding will be matched by industry investment, strengthening the UK’s position in advanced manufacturing and zero-emission vehicle production.
The latest investment forms part of the DRIVE35 programme, which represents the UK Government’s largest post-war investment in the automotive industry.
Ian Constance, Chief Executive of the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK, said the projects demonstrate the strength of innovation and engineering across the UK automotive industry.
