ProVeg Launches Public Database Tracking European Retailers’ Plant-Based Sales Commitments

ProVeg International has launched the Protein Shift Hub, a public database recording the protein diversification targets, disclosures, and actions of Europe’s largest food retailers and contract caterers.
It logs corporate targets, with particular attention to protein split targets that set a desired sales ratio between plant- and animal-source foods, alongside plant-based sales targets and product range targets.
It records public disclosures of protein split figures across one or more grocery categories, showing progress against a target where applicable.
Across food retail, 15 of 37 European supermarkets assessed hold a protein split target.
ProVeg acknowledges that the database may under-represent companies producing fewer public materials, and says the data will be revised on a six-monthly cycle.
