Sudan’s official gold exports in the first six months of 2026 have matched the total volume officially exported throughout 2025, Minister of Minerals Nour al-Dayem Taha said on Sunday. Taha attributed the increase to tighter government controls and measures aimed at directing more gold production through formal banking channels. The Government has intensified its crackdown on gold smuggling. Gold smuggling has historically diverted much of Sudan’s production away from state revenues. Official figures indicate that Sudan produced 70 tons of gold in 2025, while the Central Bank of Sudan recorded only 14 tons in official exports.
