E.On UK chief executive Chris Norbury has urged the Government to take energy policy costs off business electricity bills, arguing the move could encourage firms to invest and help drive the switch to cleaner energy. The intervention comes as companies grapple with rising costs and uncertainty over future energy bills. Mr Norbury said businesses of all sizes were “concerned” about the impact of higher energy costs and warned that additional policy charges could hold back investment. E.On believes moving costs such as renewable energy levies into general taxation, or funding them through a dedicated energy transition fund, could ease the pressure on firms. The energy giant said the move could also help unlock billions of pounds of investment in low-carbon technology.
