Local musician helps children find their voices in a new way

TroubleChutes is now running in four schools, including St Mary’s Twickenham, including original songs and structured activities aimed at helping children express emotions they may otherwise keep bottled up. Schools have used the programme in classroom sessions, assemblies, lunchtime singing groups, and with smaller groups of children who find it difficult to open up. Recent events at St Mary’s included a parent event, teacher training day, and a screening. One of the songs in the programme was created from an earlier collaboration with Lionel Shriver and was broadcast on BBC Radio 6 Music. Teachers at St Mary’s have praised the impact of the programme and the confidence shown by participating children.
