The inaugural flight represents the first operational deployment of the low-Earth-orbit satellite network on a Lufthansa aircraft.
The group has not yet disclosed which route will feature the first Starlink-equipped A320neo, although Lufthansa currently operates around 30 of these aircraft on short and medium-haul European routes.
A dedicated section on the airline’s website states that a flight search function will be introduced as the service becomes available on more aircraft.
The group’s initial rollout programme includes aircraft operated by Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines, with ITA Airways, Edelweiss, Discover Airlines, Air Dolomiti and Eurowings set to benefit by 2029.
Lufthansa Group shared in a written statement:: “The first A320neo aircraft with Starlink technology will enter service on 19 August, marking the beginning of our fleet-wide connectivity programme.”
