(Joe Phelan/Staff Photographer) View 4 photosAUGUSTA — Workers last week added a steel beam to the original brick wall of the Augusta Colonial Theater, marking a milestone in the ongoing restoration of the 139 Water St. landmark.
The latest phase of renovations includes raising the roof over the stage by approximately 7 feet.
Originally opened in 1913, the theater survived extensive damage from a 1926 fire and underwent a full rebuild before closing in February 1969.
