Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo of running a more than two-decade campaign of alleged lies and political manipulation against him. Obasanjo reportedly made the claim on July 23, reopening one of the long-standing disputes between the two former political allies. In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, Ibe said Obasanjo had repeatedly revived allegations of betrayal and corruption against Atiku, particularly around election periods. The dispute between Obasanjo and Atiku dates back to their time as political allies. Atiku eventually left the PDP and contested the 2007 presidential election under the Action Congress after his relationship with Obasanjo deteriorated.
