Red Watch from central Swindon’s fire station responded to reports of a fire at Coate Water Country Park on Sunday night. On arrival, crews discovered visitors having a small campfire and using a disposable BBQ, which is strictly prohibited. The emergency service workers then extinguished both the fire and disposable BBQ due to rising concerns about the spread of wildfires. A disposable BBQ started a fire at Coate Water. Swindon Borough Council’s Ranger team added: “Coate Water Country Park is the only country park where visitors are allowed to bring their own BBQ.
