Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of 4,800 special assistants across the state’s 192 wards as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots governance. He also said the appointments were a recognition of the contributions of APC members to the party’s electoral victory, stressing that the success was a collective effort. Speaking earlier, APC State Chairman, Jarret Tenebe, disclosed that 25 special assistants would be appointed in each of the 192 wards, bringing the total number to 4,800. Tenebe said the meeting was organised to brief ward chairmen and other party members on the requirements and procedures for selecting qualified nominees. He added that the party’s State Working Committee had set up a committee to work with the wards and ensure that the selection process complied with the approved guidelines.
