Lubna Arshad, 57, was declared dead at the scene of a fire at her home in Ashurst Drive in the early hours of July 20. Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a fire at a range of terraced houses at 2.43am. Ten people had left the properties before firefighters arrived, but Ms Arshad remained inside. East London Coroner's Court heard on Monday (August 10) that Ms Arshad was extracted from the premises by firefighters but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Ms Persaud requested reports and statements from the Met Police and LFB, as well as a statement from the landlord about any fire precautions that were in place.
