"Every Nationwide branch colleague in the Northwest has the opportunity to receive first-aid training, and we're working with St John Ambulance to help more people gain the skills that could help save a life."
The project, delivered in partnership with Visa and St John Ambulance, also includes first aid training for Nationwide staff.
St John Ambulance is providing specialist training to ensure staff feel confident using the equipment and delivering CPR or bleed control if needed.
Professor Andrew Hartle, chief medical officer at St John Ambulance, said: "Every minute counts in an emergency, and having access to a defibrillator or bleed control kit can make a vital difference before the ambulance service arrives.
Since the start of the rollout, 48 defibrillators have already been activated, highlighting the need for greater public access.
