Michigan State Police have had a chance to hone their emergency response skills by holding a large-scale mass fatality training exercise Thursday near Cassopolis. State police tell us the day-long exercise included their Crime Scene Response Team and Mobile Lab, the Emergency Support Team, the K-9 Unit, and the Bomb Squad, among others. The goal of the exercise was to strengthen coordination and preparedness for responding to complex mass fatality incidents while giving specialized personnel realistic, hands-on experience. Michigan State Police tell anyone who may have noticed a lot of law enforcement activity at the site on Thursday not to be concerned. It was only a training exercise.
