Setmurthy Parish Hall will host The History of Setmurthy, a showcase exploring the heritage of the "parish without a village" on the outskirts of Cockermouth, on Saturday, August 22, and Sunday, August 23. The exhibition will feature photographs and information about the former school, now the parish hall, St Barnabas Church, the sailing club, and Higham Hall. It will also include information about well-known individuals connected to the parish, including painter E H Thompson. Setmurthy has evidence of human settlement since the late Neolithic era, including an ancient stone circle. The exhibition will be open from 10am to 3.30pm each day.
