TerminalWidget’s goal in life is to render desktop widgets using output from command line apps running in Terminal, Shortcuts automations, AppleScript scripts, or even custom terminalwidget:// URLs. Even cooler, the widgets can be on the Mac or—with communication via iCloud—on an iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch. You can configure widgets to provide a wide variety of looks and assign actions to execute on a click or tap. Luckily, the TerminalWidget website includes a page of recipes, which are community-contributed scripts and shortcuts for TerminalWidget. To get TerminalWidget working from the command line, I had to resort to asking ChatGPT for step-by-step instructions, but that’s more a criticism of my command line chops than any issue with TerminalWidget.
