Temporary campsites currently require only minimal notification to operate under permitted development rights introduced by ministers in 2023. Sarah Wilson, a homeowner in the Lake District National Park, who has launched a petition about pop-up campsites. Ms Wilson stressed that she and her fellow residents of the Lake District "are not against camping." She said: "The Lake District welcomes campers and Bowness alone has established, well-run sites minutes away.
