Cumberland Council has announced the planned closure of the road between its junctions with Brow Top and Church Street to allow utility works to take place. The closure is set to begin on August 24. The council anticipates the planned closure will be in effect for 17 days. During this time, a signed alternative route for north-west vehicles will be available via Udale Street, the A596, Washington Street, Jane Street, Oxford Street, Station Road, the A597, and Church Street.
