Russia’s developing Rassvet satellite network could create a new threat by allowing Russian forces to control drones over Ukraine in real time.
“Why the network of satellites “Rasvet” (analogue of “Starlink”) in the enemy will be a problem for us.
Ukraine is currently unable to use Starlink to control drones online over Russian territory because the service does not operate there, Beskrestnov said.
Russia, however, could eventually use its own satellite network to control drones during attacks over Ukraine, he added.
AdvertisementRussia has placed 16 Rassvet satellites in orbit and plans to increase the constellation to 292 satellites by 2027, according to Ukrainian military intelligence.
