The 11 and 15-year-olds went missing on Derwentwater, prompting their mother to raise the alarm just before 3pm. Keswick Mountain Rescue Team coordinated the response, with support from Penrith MRT, police, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, the Coastguard, Maryport Inshore Rescue, the North West Ambulance Service, and helicopter Rescue 897. A total of 20 Keswick team members and five from Penrith joined the effort, searching the lake by boat while others combed the shoreline on foot and by bike. Keswick MRT's spokesperson said: "Our team is 100 per cent funded through donations. "For good reason however, we cannot use your Mountain Rescue donations towards social events such as a trips to the pub.
