Warangal: Director General of Police (DGP) CV Anand today said Telangana lost nearly ₹1,700 crore to cybercrime in three years, almost seven times the financial loss caused by conventional crimes.
Cybercrime losses far exceed conventional crimeThe DGP said conventional crimes caused financial losses of around ₹250 crore to people across Telangana over the past three years.
In comparison, cybercrime victims lost nearly ₹1,700 crore, highlighting how rapidly digital fraud has emerged as a major threat to the public.
Anand said cybercrime could be significantly reduced through greater public awareness and preventive measures.
The police department is strengthening its cybercrime wing and conducting awareness programmes across the state.
