A 44-year-old Mattoon man is now facing several felony charges after Illinois State Police recovered a gun and cocaine during a narcotics investigation last Friday. The State Police East Central Illinois Task Force or ‘ECITF,’ working with the Coles County Crisis Response Team, arrested Marcus M. Jackson around 2 p.m. after an operation that led to the recovery of a firearm connected to him. Jackson is currently being held at the Coles County Jail, he is now awaiting a preliminary hearing on August 17th. Following the arrest, task force officers obtained search warrants from the Coles County State’s Attorney’s Office and searched Jackson’s residence in the 900 block of South 17th Street. Illinois State Police have said no further information is available at this time.
