This time, the platform’s owners — brothers Tim and Chris Vanderhook — are pitching it as an antidote to the social media experience everyone seems to be complaining about.
After reportedly losing more than $150 million on the platform, they’re betting that frustration is finally big enough to act on.
At its peak in 2008, Myspace drew roughly 115 million monthly visitors.
The 2013 relaunch didn’t stick.
But the idea it’s selling — that people want a version of social media with more control and less algorithm — doesn’t feel nearly as far-fetched as it would have a few years ago.
