Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) was called out on Monday August 10, after a male walker became too unwell to continue on Broad Crag during a wild camping trip with two friends. Due to the location and limited team numbers, Coastguard Rescue 897 and support from Duddon and Furness MRT were requested. The coastguard helicopter crew was first to arrive, assessed the casualty, and decided to airlift all three down to the valley. The group was handed over to MRT at the bottom and transported to the Wasdale Head Inn, where they had planned to camp. A spokesperson for Wasdale MRT said: "Many thanks to Duddon & Furness MRT and Rescue 897 for their assistance."
