Visakhapatnam : The Centre has forwarded the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada Metro Rail for financial appraisal. DPRs Cleared for Financial AppraisalFollowing the formation of the coalition government in Andhra Pradesh, the DPRs for both metro projects were submitted to the Centre. Officials believe the introduction of metro rail services in both cities will reduce dependence on road transport, improve urban mobility and stimulate economic activity. Social Impact Assessment Underway in VijayawadaMeanwhile, the Social Impact Assessment (SIA) survey for the Vijayawada Metro Rail project has commenced. The proposed two-corridor metro network in Vijayawada will require approximately 80 acres of land for metro stations and a coach depot.
