A Huron County 15-year-old was fatally injured Sunday morning in an e-bike accident, according to the Huron County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies from that department were reportedly dispatched around 4:40 a.m. on Sunday, August 2, to McLaren Thumb Hospital in Bad Axe, in response to a 15-year-old boy with critical injuries from an e-bike crash. Later investigation found the boy and another 15-year-old from Bad Axe had been riding e-bikes on M-142 in Verona Township shortly before 3 a.m. when the injuries occurred. While the other rider was able to brake, he still collided with the wire, resulting in minor injuries. The Huron County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Bad Axe Police Department and the Huron County Medical Examiner’s Office, is continuing to investigate the incident.
