Telangana HC lifts stay on land acquisition, clears way for MGBS–Chandrayangutta Metro Corridor-4

Hyderabad: Telangana High Court has cleared the way for the MGBS–Chandrayangutta Metro Corridor-4, lifting the stay on land acquisition and allowing authorities to resume the process and metro works.
Land acquisition under challengeThe stay was imposed after Mohammed Abdul Rauf and seven others approached the High Court challenging the land acquisition process for the metro corridor.
They also told the court that nearly 90% of the businesses were located on the side facing greater land acquisition.
Metro authorities cite compensation packageAdditional Advocate General Mohammed Imran Khan, appearing for the Metro Rail authorities, said the required notification had been issued, and consent declarations had been obtained from some affected persons.
Court prioritises larger public interestJustice N.V. Shravan Kumar, after hearing both sides, observed that although the petitioners were challenging the land acquisition process, the metro project involved a wider public interest.
