The Berrien County Health Department is now taking applications from organizations interested in partnering with the county to combat opioid abuse. Berrien County Health Department health promotion and prevention supervisor Hannah Darr tells us organizations seeking to apply for grants could propose approaching the opioid epidemic in a variety of ways. In 2024, the county authorized its first opioid grants, totaling $1.1 million, for Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Center, the Berrien County Jail, and the First Church of God. The health department is offering them ways to learn more. “We will be hosting an in-person office hours session from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16 here at the Benton Harbor office of the health department.
