Ksi Lisims LNG says a new long-term supply agreement with German energy company Uniper is a major milestone for the proposed LNG facility on Nisga’a Nation territory.
The agreement will see Uniper purchase two million tonnes of LNG annually for up to 20 years, with deliveries expected to begin in 2032.
Rebecca Scott, Senior Director of Communications and Community Relations with Western LNG, says the deal is significant because it is the first time Canadian LNG has been sold through a long-term agreement with a European utility.
Scott says the agreement brings Ksi Lisims LNG closer to a final investment decision, which would allow the project to move toward construction.
Ksi Lisims LNG is being developed through a partnership between the Nisga’a Nation, Western LNG, and Rockies LNG.
