The part that is important more than the drone's nationality is that nobody detected it. Not Bulgarian radar, not Romanian radar, and no alert from NATO's Combined Air Operations Center at Torrejon, which is supposed to watch precisely this airspace. Prime Minister Radev admitted as much, and admitted alongside it that the procurement of modern three-dimensional radar has been stalled "for years." That a provocation was being readied somewhere along the flank was, in other words, public knowledge before one landed in a Bulgarian field. The scandal will be if, a year from now, the radar still is not here and we are explaining the next one.
