SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Public Schools will vote this week on an emergency declaration to help clean up and prepare schools affected by the Spokane Complex Fire. According to the declaration, which will be voted on at Wednesday’s School Board meeting, this emergency declaration would allow the school district to hire contractors to make any necessary repairs to around a dozen schools and other district facilities before the start of the school year. The district says these schools may need work done because of the Spokane Complex Fire, or need to adjust to accommodate students whose homes were affected by the Spokane Complex Fire. The district says this declaration is necessary to allow all students in the district to start the 2026-27 school year on time.
