Bulgaria’s share of the European Union’s economic output has doubled since the country joined the bloc in 2007, according to the latest Eurostat data. In nominal terms, Bulgaria’s economy expanded from €32.46 billion in 2007 to nearly €116.02 billion in 2025, marking growth of 257.4%. By comparison, the EU economy increased from around €10.8 trillion in 2007 to nearly €18.8 trillion in 2025, or a growth rate of 74.1%. The figures show that Bulgaria’s economy grew about 3.5 times faster than the EU average over the 2007-2025 period, according to Eurostat data. The increase reflects the gradual expansion of Bulgaria’s role within the European economy since joining the bloc, although the country remains among the smaller economies in the EU in terms of overall GDP size.
