The drone, identified in a preliminary assessment as a Ukrainian-made Maya decoy, entered Bulgarian territory from the direction of Romania and exploded about 100 meters inside the Bulgarian border. Stoyanov said the drone’s GPS module has been recovered, but it does not contain information that would reveal its flight path. Bulgaria expects an answer from Kyiv on whether the particular drone was launched from Ukrainian territory. “The drone is Ukrainian, it came from Romanian territory to Bulgarian territory,” Stoyanov said, while stressing that investigators are still working to establish its precise origin and trajectory. Neither Romanian nor Bulgarian air defense systems detected the drone before it exploded.
