CHARLOTTE, N.C. (News Release) – The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) will introduce stop request service on the Gold Line beginning Monday, Aug. 31, improving travel times and service reliability by reducing unnecessary stops.
Similar to a bus, Gold Line customers riding the streetcar will press the onboard “Stop Request” button before their desired station to signal the operator to stop.
In most cases, Gold Line streetcars will stop at stations only when:A customer has requested a stop using the onboard “Stop Request” button, orA customer is waiting on the station platform to board.
Customers should press the “Stop Request” button after departing the station prior to their stop or when their upcoming station is announced.
The change is designed to improve the speed and reliability of Gold Line service by eliminating unnecessary station stops while continuing to provide convenient access to all stations.
