The premium title is the latest standalone entry in the studio's long-running surreal puzzle series, returning players to the infamous Vanderboom estate to explore the family's history from a new perspective. The game was originally planned for a spring 2026 release, but Rusty Lake pushed the launch back after the project's scope, in both story and puzzles, nearly doubled during development. Housekeeping tasks turn unsettling at the Vanderboom estateRather than stepping into the shoes of an investigator or a trapped victim, players take on the role of a newly hired servant arriving at the Vanderboom house during the era of Aldous and William Vanderboom, decades before the events of Rusty Lake: Roots. Gameplay maintains the studio's familiar inventory-based puzzle logic, requiring players to inspect rooms, combine unusual items, and fulfil escalating requests from the household's inhabitants.
