Trump Signs New Executive Orders Targeting Birthright Citizenship

President Donald Trump signed two executive orders Thursday aimed at limiting birthright citizenship in the United States, renewing an immigration policy fight weeks after the Supreme Court rejected an earlier effort.
The measures also address citizenship for some children born to foreign government employees and people classified as alien enemies.
The White House argues that these situations fall within historical exceptions to the citizenship protections of the 14th Amendment.
The Supreme Court struck down that earlier policy on June 30, 2026.
The new executive orders are expected to face additional legal challenges, with immigration advocates arguing that birthright citizenship remains constitutionally protected.
