Since 3 August, Copernicus Sentinel-3A and Sentinel-3B observations over Southern Europe, from Türkiye to Italy, as well as Central Europe, have been reaching users approximately 90 minutes after they are acquired by the satellite – up to twice as fast as the mission’s standard global near-real-time delivery requirement of three hours. This substantial improvement responds directly to requests from the Copernicus user community for faster access to Sentinel-3 near-real-time fire data, helping ensure that valuable Earth observation information reaches emergency services sooner. For emergency management services, every minute can matter during a rapidly developing wildfire. Faster access to satellite observations can provide an earlier picture of where fires are burning and how intense they are, helping services assess evolving conditions.
