One of the two men charged following a string of suspicious fires in Norfolk County has now been sentenced. Chad Reimer was sentenced Monday to two years less a day, to be served in the community, after being convicted of two counts of arson connected to fires on January 21 and January 26, 2025. The sentence comes after Reimer and Matthew Smith were arrested in January 2025 as Norfolk OPP investigated a series of suspicious fires dating back to November 2024. Under the conditional sentence, Reimer will spend the first 12 months under house arrest, with limited exceptions including groceries, medical needs, approved work or education, counselling and court appearances. Reimer was also sentenced for an impaired driving offence.
