SISAL, YUCATAN — Environmental group Aak Kuxtal Sisal reported the death of 13 sea turtle hatchlings in the coastal community of Sisal, attributing the loss to an attack by feral dogs. The incident occurred overnight after a sea turtle nest hatched inside the local conservation enclosure. The group raised alarms over the growing threat free-ranging domestic and feral animals pose to protected marine species along Yucatán’s coast. Aak Kuxtal Sisal urged residents, visitors, and local authorities to take immediate action to safeguard wildlife and prevent similar incidents during the ongoing nesting and hatching season.
