Known only as ‘Doctor A’ during Letby’s trial, he was never publicly identified but was described in court by prosecutors as a married registrar and Letby’s “boyfriend”. During her trial, Letby denied the pair were romantically involved and insisted they were just friends. However, notes and text messages found at her home suggested otherwise, with Letby referring to him as “sweetie” and “love.” Six families requested a review of the CPS decision under the Victims’ Right to Review scheme. An “extensive” review by an independent prosecutor followed which upheld the ruling not to bring further charges, said the CPS.
