Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a suspected kidnap kingpin and recovered four AK-47 rifles from a criminal syndicate’s hideout in Enugu. It said the latest operations were part of efforts to dismantle a notorious kidnapping syndicate operating across Enugu, Abia, Anambra and adjoining states. The report added that troops recovered 1,000 U.S. dollars and N785,900, alongside other sundry items, from the suspect. “In a related operation, troops exploited information obtained from two arrested kidnappers to locate an arms and ammunition hideout in Umuchingu Ujenike Forest, Udi. The recovered items comprised four AK-47 rifles, seven AK-47 magazines and 133 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition,” it said.
