The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued an amber heat-health alert for the whole region from 9am tomorrow (Tuesday, August 11). The alert, which particularly applies to vulnerable groups, will remain in place until 9pm on Friday (August 14). Polly Ashmore, UKHSA’s acting consultant in public health, said: “It’s important that everyone is aware of the simple steps they can take to stay safe during periods of hot weather. “For vulnerable groups, including older adults and those with existing health conditions, warmer weather can result in serious health outcomes. Temperatures could hit 30C tomorrow, rising to the mid 30s at their peak on Wednesday, with cooler weather forecast for the weekend.
