The district energy system is a key component of the NCC’s sustainability plans for LeBreton Flats, which is expected to eventually accommodate about 11,000 new residents. Hydro Ottawa said the agreement aligns with its 2026-30 strategic direction, which identifies district energy as a key business line to support local decarbonization and the company’s commitment to net-zero operations. The partnership is part of the broader redevelopment of LeBreton Flats, a major urban development area west of downtown Ottawa.
