Work is due to start within weeks on Dublin's long-delayed Parnell Square Cultural Quarter. The landmark project in the north inner city, opposite the Garden of Remembrance, will create a new city library, restore Georgian buildings and enhance the Hugh Lane Gallery. Phase 1 of the plans to transform Parnell Square North is estimated to cost €173 million and will involve the construction of a new state-of-the-art city library, replacing the existing Central Library at the Ilac Centre. The work is due to be completed in 2029, before the grand opening in 2030. It is an investment in learning, creativity, heritage and community that will benefit Dubliners for generations to come."
