Mohsen Rezaei was appointed on Sunday as the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), said an Iranian presidential aide. Earlier in the day, Iran’s supreme leader, in a decree, appointed Zolqadr as his political advisor, according to a statement published on his website. He also appointed Rezaei as his representative in the SNSC. Rezaei, 72, is also a member of Iran’s Expediency Discernment Council. He was the chief commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps between 1981 and 1997.
