Walter Strachan was told it was "time to change" after offences in May, June and July this year, when appearing at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.
As he was led into a police van, he kicked his right foot back, connecting with a sergeant's right shin.
His partner said Strachan "went mental", throwing her bag on to the roof and smashing her phone.
Kilmarnock Sheriff Court was told on August 3 the couple intended to continue their relationship of about a year.
He put Strachan under social work supervision for 12 months, including an alcohol treatment requirement.
