Article contentThe proclamation goes on to state “the Town recognizes the purpose of International Overdose Awareness Day is to raise awareness of drug overdoses, reduce the stigma of a drug-related death, and to acknowledge the grief felt by families and friends remembering those who have died or had a permanent injury as a result of a drug overdose”, and further noted “for every drug overdose that results in death, there are more nonfatal overdoses, each taking an emotional and economic toll on individuals, their families and the community (and) the Town urges all citizens district-wide to learn about this disease, and to help and support those who are affected by it.”
