Loganair (LM), the UK’s largest regional airline and Scotland’s national carrier, opened its new Southampton Airport (SOU) base in January of this year, but has now confirmed the difficult operational decision that it will be closed in October of 2026. The base intended for two stationed aircraft was established to “boost UK regional connectivity.” Whilst an unnamed Southampton Airport spokesperson expressed disappointment with the decision, they also thanked the airline which “remains an important airline partner.” LM’s headquarters are based at Glasgow Airport (GLA) with other hubs at Aberdeen (ABZ), Edinburgh (EDI) and Inverness (INV).
