The six-part drama, starring Connor Swindells and Eddie Marsan, tells the story of one of the worst terror attacks to ever take place in the United Kingdom. Scenes for the drama were shot at two locations in Ayrshire, including in and around Prestwick Airport. The airport doubled up as London Heathrow, New York's JFK Airport and Malta Airport in the show. Scenes were also filmed at The Gateside Inn near Beith, with the pub doubling up as The Whitehorse Pub where Lockerbie residents were enjoying a Christmas drink when debris from the explosion began to fall on the village.
